Ernie Krivda Solo Saxophone
Ernie has been performing as a solo saxophonist at concerts and on recordings for a few years and the results according to music critics have been “monumental”.
DownBeat Magazine, in a review that awarded the CIMP November Man CD 4 and ½ stars, commented on the “superb improvisations” and called the recording “an intense and rewarding experience.”
Noted jazz critic Scott Yanow said “November Man is a solo recital that grows in interest with each listening."
The Cleveland Plain Dealer's classical music critic Donald Rosenberg said “absorbing solo works ….distinct and passionate…. reveals an artist fully in touch with his inquisitive muse”.
It also has reached the ears and turned the heads of noted musicians such as Joe Lovano who was moved to say “Yeah Ernie...thanks for another amazing lesson...”
The Solo concepts allows Krivda to bring the full range of his influences into single improvised works. Jazz, blues, and swinging intertwine comfortably with echoes of classical music and folk rhythms. Ernie also collaborates as a solo saxophonist with artists of other disciplines like modern dancer Nusha Martynuk and visual artist Carter McAdams in the group Motion in Three Parts. Krivda is planning more solo recording projects.
