Ernie's current endeavor is "The Art of The Trio," a group put together by the great tenor saxophone stylist and jazz legend himself. Its purpose is to realize the difficult balance of achieving expanding improvisational goals while maintaining a strong compositional focus. This lean and mean ensemble of world class musicians, which include famed Cleveland jazz fixtures Peter Dominguez & Ron Godale, is able to showcase the individual virtuosity of its members and still create variety of moods. The credits of these musicians cover a range of experience in the creative music spectrum. Although jazz, in all of its swinging glory, is at the core of the group’s relationship, the compositions and playing is colored by influences ranging from world, Latin, Funk, and European chamber music.  The group is currently doing concerts, clinics, and celebrating the release of its new CD release on CIMP records "The Art of the Trio."
